There are many benefits to getting a good night’s rest. But research shows that the signs of restlessness and a rough night can actually show on your face.

A study in Sweden and the Netherlands indicated that sleep affects your looks, brain function, immune system and reaction time, plus increases your chances of heart disease, diabetes and obesity. In the study, scientists examined 23 adults and evaluated them after six to eight hours of good sleep and then after staying up for 31 hours straight.

Results show after rating the pictures of the study participants after no sleep, individuals rated them as 4 percent less attractive, 6 percent less healthy and 19 percent more tired compared to pictures of the same people with adequate sleep.
