Selena Cate always makes sure superfoods are on the menu.

While you may be familiar with common superfoods like acai and pomegranate, renowned dermatologist Dr. Nicholas Perricone says there’s now a whole new crop.
“Very small amounts can affect the body profoundly. You’re going to feel a lot better and you’re going to look a lot better in a very short period of time,” he said.
Some are old favorites with new research behind them. Others are ancient remedies now gaining popularity. And all are backed by clinical research, starting with cinnamon.
“It’s an anti-oxidant, powerful anti-inflammatory, its anti-bacterial and now we know it has powerful anti-cancer activity,” said Dr. Perricone.
Research points to the power of broccoli, brussels sprouts and, more recently, watercress.
“Two really important studies out of the UK show that it can inhibit the growth of breast cancer and, at the same time, prevent actually the formation of breast cancer,” he said.
For something more exotic, go for mangosteen. Nutritionist Lindsey Duncan says it helps fight free radicals and reduces inflammation, or try sea buckthorn.
“It’s one of the only foods on the planet that has the fatty acid omega 7. Omega fatty acid 7 is incredible for the skin, the hair,” he said.
For heart health, there’s raw cacao, or load up on lychee. Goji berry is another choice.
“It supports eye health and vision. It supports a healthy mood, mind and memory,” he said.
